Your Dollars At Work

You can make a difference for patients and families affected by cancer. Funds raised through Illuminight will support the highest-priority needs of the Cancer Program at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. When you fundraise for Illuminight you are helping us purchase the best equipment and offer the specialized care our cancer patients need and deserve. Visit our website for more information about The Foundation and how you can make a vital difference for patients.

Since 2018, more than $400,000 has been raised through Illuminight to support the Cancer Program at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. These funds have supported enhancements of RESSCU, a specialized urgent-care program for cancer patients. Funds also enabled the addition of a mental health program, including the development of appropriate therapeutic spaces to support private and family counselling, and group therapy. Proceeds from last year’s event enabled the purchase of nine specialized vital signs monitors and three chemotherapy chairs.

Help us purchase a 3D Array Detector

Radiation therapy is an important part of many cancer patients’ treatment plans. This year, proceeds from Illuminight will enable the purchase of a state-of-the-art 3D array detector. This vital equipment helps enhance the safety and quality of radiation treatment plans, as it ensures an even greater level of accuracy in measuring radiation doses during quality checks.

Safety and quality control are extremely important when treating patients with radiation therapy. After a customized treatment plan is created for a patient, quality checks are conducted to verify that the plan is accurate and safe before the patient undergoes treatment. Targeted radiation is a valuable tool for destroying cancer cells, but it can also damage healthy cells if the dose or targeting are incorrect. The 3D array detector helps avoid that damage.
