Strides (formerly Strides for the General) is celebrating 12 years of making a vital difference. For 2022, we are excited to be celebrating this event together in-person at Bayfront Park once again!
Strides raises awareness and funds for Hamilton General Hospital Foundation and St. Peter's Hospital Foundation. The event includes a 5km walk and timed 5km run at Bayfront Park. The event includes a vendor village with breakfast, lunch, healthy snacks, fun and wellness activities like yoga, and entertainment.
On September 17, celebrate and support these hospitals by running a timed 5km run or walking 5km at Bayfront Park, while fundraising for priority equipment needs at Hamilton General Hospital, the Regional Rehabilitation Centre and St. Peter’s Hospital.

Day-of registration is available. Bring a friends to join you in your run or walk. Visit the new registration tent upon arrival.

Why: To raise funds for vital equipment for Hamilton General Hospital and St. Peter’s Hospital.
We would ask all attendees of our events to follow the guidelines outlined by the municipal, provincial and federal authorities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These may evolve as we approach our event date and will be communicated with event participants. Some tips to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19:
- Do not attend the event if you are feeling unwell or have any COVID-19 symptoms, are waiting for COVID-19 test results or have been exposed to an individual with COVID-19.
- Maintain physical distancing when possible.
- Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly.
- STrides is a mask friendly event
You can register online as an individual or a group. When you register you create a personal fundraising page (your participant centre) where you can share why you are fundraising and direct supporters to donate to you (and your team).
Early-bird registration prices until May 31 at 4:30 pm:
- $20 5km Walk
- $30 5km Run
After that, registration prices increase to:
- $30 5km Walk
- $40 5km Run
All registration fees include optional t-shirt, medal, time chip and bib (for runners).
Registered run participants will receive a time chip and bib to be able to track their 5km run. This will be available for pick up at registration on the event date. More details on how to access times will be announced closer to the event date.
All participants are encouraged to fundraise and support our health care heroes and patients in our region. When you register, you’ll be able to select whether the funds you are raising are designated to Hamilton General Hospital, including the Regional Rehabilitation Centre, or to St. Peter’s Hospital.
Once registered, you’ll have access to a personalized participant centre where you can send emails to request support, view your progress and send thank-you emails. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $10 or more.

Your Dollars at Work
Since 2011, Strides has raised more than $1.4 million! Funds raised through Strides enable the clinical teams at Hamilton General Hospital, the Regional Rehabilitation Centre and St. Peter's Hospital to purchase critical equipment and patient amenities that will have a significant impact on the quality of care provided to patients.
