Team Tick-Tock is named after the crocodile in Peter Pan, because that audible ticking sound is the sound that Jay makes ever since he had his mitral valve replaced with a new mechanical valve in March 2016. In August 2015 he was disgnosed with Endocarditis, which is a life-threatening infection of a heart valve. He spent five days in the General receiving emergency treatment for the infection, followed by another four days in September 2015 for complications resulting from the Endocarditis. He was operated on in March 2016 by the amazing and talented Dr. Victor Chu, who implanted a mechanical valve in his heart during a four and a half hour operation. He spent another five days in the General recovering from the surgery. Throughout all of his hospital stays he received the highest level of care and attention from the dedicated doctors, nurses and other hospital staff. He is still alive today because of the care that they provided to him at Hamilton General Hospital. Please join our team and walk 5K with us or donate to support Hamilton General Hospital Foundation.
