Register Now for Climb for Cancer – School Day

Looking to get your students active? Looking to make an impact in your local community? Register for Climb for Cancer – School Day! $10 a student gets you a “Who do you Climb for” T-shirt, a one-hour time slot to climb the steps in Tim Hortons Field, water, snacks and the opportunity to make a difference for those who have been affected by cancer here in Hamilton.

Register yourself as a Team Captain – Name your school team and register your students to Climb for Cancer in one of four timeslots on Friday, May 11th. Permission forms are required per student to participate. This is the responsibility of the teacher/team captain to collect for the Climb for Cancer.

All proceeds support Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. It is the regional cancer centre and provides care for approximately 200,000 people a year who are facing cancer in our region. Climb for Cancer raises funds for patient care, essential equipment and programs at Juravinski. Help us “step in front of cancer”.

Next Steps After you are Registered for Climb for Cancer – School Day!

Next Steps:

Once you have registered your school and the number of students you will have coming, it is time to set up your school’s fundraising page!

As a registered participant, you will have your own personal page and if you registered as the “Team Captain” you will have a team page as well. Your “Thank you for Registering” email will share those links (URLs). Otherwise, you can search for your page on the school’s website at any time.

Note: If you did not make your personal or team page “public” while registering, this function will not work. You will only be able to access the page by using the link provided in the “thank you for registering email” or by logging-in to your page and getting the link from there.

Setting up your School’s Page

When you are logged into your Climb for Cancer, School Days, page, you can add photos, text and, if you wish, the names (first names only recommended) of the students that will be there on that day. This verifies for them that they are a part of the Climb for their supporters as well.

You can do this by editing your Personal or Team Page. Simply click on the black tabs that say Personal Page or Team Page (whichever is appropriate for you).

By clicking on these and using the options along the right of the page, within the page and bottom of the page, you can put in one Team Page photo or two Personal Page photos. In the main part you can enter the text you wish to enter – and save at the bottom of the page.

It is here you would type the names of the students, any team cheers or information you wish anyone visiting this site to see.

Sharing the Link/URL

Once your page is set up, you can now simply select and copy the link for your page by using the address bar at the top of the page (where you would type in the information for the page) or you can use the link in the email you have been sent when you registered.

We would suggest you send this link to your students, so they can use it in their emails and perhaps any social media outlets to spread the word. We would also suggest you share it with your school administration or marketing group so that they might share it on the school’s website or any school communication between now and the Climb for Cancer on May 11th.

This is for all online donations. If you and your students would rather collect cash and cheques from their supporters, please use the manual pledge sheet to help keep track of all the names and addresses for tax receipt purposes. Bring these with you on the day of the Climb to turn in when you register.

If you wish to enter these on your school page – please do so by clicking the “enter new donation” tab on the right side of your personal or team page and follow the step by step instructions.
