SCHOOL CLIMB FOR CANCER DAY - Friday May 12th, 2017

It is with great pride that we invite you and your team to our 11th annual Climb for Cancer. This event began with an idea – where people gather and climb together in support of friends and family who have been affected by cancer.

We have had many schools participate in the past by climbing the stairs of their own schools or venturing out to public staircases combined with their Climb for Cancer fundraising efforts. To them we are eternally grateful.

This year, we are proud to announce that we are bringing all of our Hamilton and Halton high schools together in a friendly competition in a Climb for Cancer in support of the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. To date we have raised over $1 Million.

We are excited to have made moves that will allow all school teams to participate in an active event that will make a major impact in providing the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre with funds needed to provide their patients with the best care possible. It is true when they say that cancer has touched all of us in some fashion and we will climb in order to help those who have to climb the mountain we can refer to as cancer.

The 11th annual Climb for Cancer for High Schools will be taking place at the New Tim Hortons Field on Friday, May 12th 2017. There we will be running hourly climbs starting at 9am and finishing at 4pm. The Climb is open to all participants from avid stair climbers to friends looking for a fun, motivating workout. Participants can register as a team or an individual climber. Each climber is given a one-hour time slot to climb a predetermined route up and down Tim Hortons Field.

We recommend (but not mandatory) for each Climb team to consist of 20 team members (your selected champion students) with the goal for each team member to raise a minimum of ten $10 pledges. The team will be climbing a circuit of stairs at Tim Hortons field for a duration of one hour potentially with local police, a host of Ti-Cat players and Tim Hortons Field staff.

On a different note, we are looking for student volunteers from each school to help with the event that would count towards their volunteer hours both on this day and Saturday as well.

Contact our volunteer coordinator Ashley for more information or to sign up.

The Climb for Cancer is an event that brings many like minded individuals together that share the same values and beliefs and promote healthy living, active lifestyles and a heart to help others in any way they can. This is one hour, one day, every year that can make a major difference in someone’s life. Supporting our local Hospital and Cancer Centre will help the many lives around us.
